The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory

Located within the stunning Margaret River region of WA and set amidst scenic grape vine covered hills is The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory. Owners (Edwina and Louis Scherini) started producing soap using olive oil when their three kids were diagnosed with dermatitis and eczema, and were instructed by doctors to not use shampoo or soap. This inspired them to research and seek a natural, chemical free substitute. They soon realized that the only way to ensure the products were healthy and natural was to make their own.

After trying out many different ingredients and recipes, The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory ultimately came up with an array of soap bars by means of a conventional cold process way of making soap using extra virgin olive oil as a main base, together with other ingredients, cautiously selected for their therapeutic attributes but also their skin care properties. Pure plant extracts and 100 percent essential oils are used for adding fragrance to the products so as to revitalize as well as maintain healthy skin. Clays, herbs, flowers, spices and organically grown teas add color and texture to the soap variety.

The soap business was set up in 1996 with a wooden spoon and bucket to produce the soap from the home kitchen in Kojonup WA. Subsequent growth led to the establishment of a boutique factory in the Margaret River region. The facility was built with recycled timbers from Busselton Jetty, corrugated tin and White Gum or Wandoo from Kojonup. The factory has expanded its range into skin balms, moisturizing lotions, scrubs, massage and bath oils. The products are sold through The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory’s own retail outlet as well as Australian Pharmacies and Gourmet and Health Food Stores across Australia. The company also exports some of its products, supplying to a number of stores worldwide and an international hotel chain.

The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory welcomes visitors to try and test its products, delighting their senses with wonderful fusions of pure essential oils and high quality extra virgin olive oil. You can also see how soaps are made and interact with the staff and soap makers. This exciting and unique attraction in Margaret River is definitely a must see for both local and international visitors alike. The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory opens every day from 10 am to 5 pm.

    Dear Louis and Edwina,
After seeing you both on the TV the other night I felt so saddened for what you are going through.
I met with Louis some years back and being a Naturopath Herbalist and Skin Therapist loved your Skin Care Products so much I wanted to help promote them in my seminars and to my patients (clients) but never heard back. I would love to catch up with again and have a chat. I may be in Busselton soon so lets know when it suits you and I can work around it. If there is anyway I can help you please contact me on
